Megan's Letter

Dear family and friends:

This summer, I’m planning a personal fundraiser for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International. I’m planning to run to Canada from my home in Minneapolis, a distance of about 300 miles.

The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International (JDRF) is the leading charitable funder and advocate of type 1 (juvenile) diabetes research worldwide. The mission of JDRF is to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research. For more information, see: http://www.jdrf.org/index.cfm As you know, I was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes last May, and while the diagnosis could have been much worse, I find it very important to support JDRF in their search for a cure.

In July I will start from my house (in Minneapolis) and by running an average of 17 miles a day arrive at Fort Frances in Ontario in approximately three weeks. My dad and I planned the route and the stops at nearby campgrounds and voluntary lawns and, occasionally, hotels. My parents will accompany me in a car carrying all of the things I need for the trip. I have planned this run myself and will complete most of it alone but I welcome anyone to join me along the way.

Please consider sponsoring me on this run. All of the costs of the run will be covered by me and my family, all donated money will go directly to JDRF (please write the check to them) and is tax deductible (the JDRF tax ID is 23-1907729). My goal is to raise $2,500 and I would greatly appreciate any help you can give.

Sincerely,
Megan

PS You can send a check made out to JDRF to me, and I will send it in, or you can send it directly to them (but please tell them it is in support of my run, so I can see if I made my goal):
